Program Director, National Campaign Against Hunger & Homelessness

About the Job

The National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness is committed to ending hunger and homelessness by educating, engaging and training students to directly meet individuals’ immediate needs while advocating for long-term systemic solutions. Over the past thirty years, the Campaign has become the student-arm of the anti-hunger and homelessness movement.

Right now, we’re looking for a Program Director to engage thousands of students in community service and political campaigns, develop local long-term projects like food salvage programs and raised millions of dollars to fight hunger and homelessness here and abroad.

Responsibilities

The Program Director serves as a clearinghouse of information and a liaison between national and student organizations. The Program Director will develop students’ leadership skills to become better organizers and activists. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Work with the National Coalition for the Homeless to run Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week on hundreds of campuses across the country as a way to educate the public and decision-makers about these issues.
  • Coordinate our Spring Hunger Clean Up, one of the largest student-driven days of service. For the Cleanup, students hold a day of service in their community to benefit local agencies that fight poverty. Students also spend the weeks leading up to the Cleanup raising funds to provide local, national and international poverty relief organizations with the resources to fight poverty.
  • Provide disaster relief by organizing students to raise funds to support on-the-ground relief work and pay for supplies, including food, shelter, clothing and medical care.
  • Organize the Student Conference on Hunger and Homelessness.
  • Provide in-person and webinar trainings to provide students the tools they need to fight hunger and homelessness.
